Hello
I’m Jevin, a scientist-turned-career advisor who helps PhD students and researchers turn a confusing job search into something you can actually run like a project.

After my PhD, I had no idea what non-academic jobs I could even start applying to. I made all the mistakes, and I waited way too long even to start.

So I did the only thing I knew how to do. I put on my science hat and treated career exploration like research.

This site is my meta-analysis, where I share what I've learned to help you find work that fits the parts of your PhD you actually enjoyed.
My Story
You could call my path unique, meandering, and full of strategic pivots.
That would be generous of you.

I didn’t have a career advisor in college, but I definitely needed one.
After I graduated, I wasn’t sure what to do.
I spent 14 years trying out jobs and academia that I thought I wanted to do, but ended up not sticking with.
I was frustrated that my years of academic training didn't prepare me for arguably the most important life skills -- figuring out what I wanted to do, and then how to go and obtain that thing.
I didn’t know how to evaluate job titles, what skills mattered most, or how to write a resume and do an interview.

In my postdoc, I did nearly 100 coffee chats to figure out my next step. In that process, I realized I enjoy helping others discover the possibilities with their degree. I learned strategies to find jobs and understand if they’re a good fit. I want to share those with people, so they can save the time and find something that sticks faster than me.
My goal is simple: un-gatekeep everything I had to figure out the hard way, so you don’t have to. Follow along as I build a core list of PhD-level job titles and keep updating it as I learn more, and jobs and the market shifts.
