Technology Transfer Officer

What this job does:

Evaluates inventions disclosed by university or hospital researchers, makes strategic decisions about which technologies to patent and license, and frames the commercial value proposition of new technologies for potential industry partners. Day-to-day involves reviewing invention disclosures, conducting patent landscape and market analyses, negotiating licensing agreements, and serving as the strategic bridge between academic researchers and commercial entities. The framing and synthesis aspect is central: assessing whether an early-stage invention has commercial viability by synthesizing scientific merit, patent strength, market size, competitive landscape, and licensee interest into a strategic recommendation.
